Tom was my cousin. We grew up together on College Hill. After Woodward we went our separate ways until his final illness when we started to exchange weekly phone calls. I made a final trip to see him in Lawrence the month before he died.
Sorry to hear of Tom’s passing. I understand that he had been battling cancer. We were good buds in grade, junior and senior high school, sharing the same pleasures of playing with cars, weekend camping trips and pyrotechnics . After Woodward we went our separate ways; he to Ohio State and the construction business and I to the Marines. In a way we both stayed in the pyrotechnic business He was a kind and gentle soul, always quick with an idea for another adventure. I’m sure he’s going to be missed.
I grew up with Tom in College Hill. We went to grade school and junior high school together in addition to Woodward. I think we may have been in the same den in Cub Scouts. He was always fun to be with, friendly and kind. We had a great group of guys in College Hill and Tom was one of them.
